Day 1 - Arrival in OrléansYou start in Orléans, the city of Joan of Arc, with the imposing cathedral, the arcades of the Rue Royale and many museums worth seeing.Day 2 - Orleans - Beaugency - 36 or 41 kmAfter your first castle in Meung-sur-Loire, medieval Beaugency is your place to stay. Dike roads lead you westwards.Day 3 - Beaugency - Blois - 44 kmYou cross the Loire to visit the imposing 16th century Château Chambord. On gravy cycle paths you will go through the forest and field back to the Loire to visit the royal city of Blois with its beautiful castle.Day 4 - Blois - Amboise - 48 kmBack on the other bank, the Chaumont castle is a nice prelude to the castle of your Amboise stop. Here you will also find the Leonardo da Vinci mansion, now an exceptional museum.Day 5 - Amboise - Tours - 32 kmOn the way to Tours you can make an extra trip to the remarkable pagoda tower 'Pagode de Chanteloup'. From Montlouis a cycle path takes you right along the Loire to the historic center of Tours. In this lively student city you will also discover many nice terraced squares.Day 6 - Tours - Azay-le Rideau - 50 kmCycle paths and dike roads take you along the Cher, to the castle of Villandry with its famous gardens and to Langeais, with its well-preserved medieval castle. You will spend the night in the vicinity of the beautiful castle in Azay-le-Rideau.Day 7 - Azay-le Rideau - Fontevraud - 50 kmYou cycle back to the Loire to follow the Loire dike for quite some time. On the way to Fontevraud you can visit the castle of Rigny-Ussé. Then cross the Vienne and spend the night opposite the impressive abbey complex of Fontevraud.Day 8 - Departure or extension
