Romantic Alsace

The journey begins in the beautiful city of Strasbourg and leads you through Osthouse, Sélestat, and Colmar, where the charm of the façades is unmistakable. With its timber-framed houses, the village exudes a German feel, yet there's an undeniable French flair as well. Or perhaps it’s the other way around?

Famous Wine Villages

You rest your bike against an old façade bursting with colorful geraniums, wander through winding cobblestone streets, pause by a bubbling fountain, and settle in on a cozy terrace. Is it too early for a glass of wine? Ah, just one then. Later, you cycle on to famous wine villages like Rouffach, Guebwiller, Eguisheim, Turckheim, Kientzheim, Kaysersberg, Riquewihr, and Ribeauvillé, strung together like pearls, each as enchanting as Colmar. The grape pickers you pass craft some of Alsace’s finest wines, but by now, you probably already knew that. Your journey ends in Obernai, with its charming, picture-perfect Old Town.

The Land of Milk and Honey

During this cycling trip, you’ll also get to know a variety of local delicacies. Tarte flambée, for example, sauerkraut with an array of sausages, and of course, the region’s distinctive cheeses. After all, what’s a glass of wine without a delicious piece of cheese? These two French staples are simply made for a lifelong marriage, forever together in… the land of milk and honey.

Like a Fairytale

Be sure to stop in Eguisheim, just south of the busier Colmar. This village is a strong contender for the most picture-perfect postcard of Alsace. Its narrow streets look like something straight out of a fairytale, almost as if they were designed by Disneyland. Eguisheim is listed among Les Plus Beaux Villages de France, the most beautiful villages in France, and rightfully so. With flower-filled facades, colorful geraniums, and centuries-old alleyways, romance seems to flow through every street.

Charming Obernai

An ancient city wall surrounds the historic center of this town. Thanks to the harmonious blend of half-timbered houses from the Renaissance and Middle Ages, it is a delightful place to walk through the narrow cobbled streets, searching for the town hall, the 13th-century belfry, and the well with six buckets in Renaissance style from 1579.
