Groningen and Friesland Culinary - 7 days

Day 1 - Arrival in Aduard and possibility for a round trip to Groningen - 28 kmYou arrive in Aduard, where the largest monastery of the northern Netherlands once stood. In the afternoon you can take a tour to Groningen, the cycling city of the Netherlands. You cycle into the city along the Reitdiep. On low-traffic cycle routes you cycle past the Martinitoren, across the Grote Markt, past the Groninger Museum and the University Building.Day 2 - Aduard to Drachten - 57 kmFrom Aduard you cycle to the area around the Leekstermeer. You then cycle through the small-scale farming landscape of North Drenthe to the cozy Brink van Roden. On the way to the Frisian Bakkeveen, surrounded by forests, a hunebed just pops up. Via Ureterp you cycle to Drachten.Day 3 - Drachten to Dokkum - 59 kmYou cycle to the National Park De Alde Feanen, with quiet cycle paths and ferries. The center of Leeuwarden is ideal for a small city walk or lunch. You then cycle along the Elfstedenroute along the Dokkumer Ee to Dokkum. You will of course cross the famous bridge of Bartlehiem and through the cozy harbor of Burdaard.Day 4 - Tour Ameland (30 + 12 or 38 km) or tour Anjum (37 km)On this day you will make a tour via Holwerd to Ameland and back. On Ameland you can take a short tour from Nes to the Oerderduinen or a longer tour via the charming villages of Hollum and Ballum. You go back by boat and then to Dokkum.

Alternatively, you can cycle from Dokkum to Anjum and the Lauwersmeer this day.
Day 5 - Dokkum to Schiermonnikoog - 28 kmAfter the ramparts of Dokkum you cycle on quiet roads through a wide landscape with beautiful views to the fishing village of Moddergat aan het Wad. You can visit a small museum in the old fishermen's houses. At Lauwersoog you take the boat to Schiermonnikoog.Day 6 - Tour Schiermonnikoog - 17 kmYou make a short tour on this car-free West Frisian Island. You cycle through the woods and then through the dunes to the bathing beach and the Kobbeduinen.Day 7 - Schiermonnikoog to Aduard - 50 km and departureYou arrive in Lauwersoog by ferry and cycle through the vast Lauwersmeer National Park to the fishing village of Zoutkamp. In the Fisheries Museum you can see the old fishermen's life. You will arrive in Houwerzijl via quiet, rural roads. Beautiful cycle paths take you back to Aduard via the Reitdiep and Garnwerd.
