"In front of you you'll find a plate of..." Taking a seat in our selected Belgian restaurants is a recipe for success, night after night. During the day your mouth will already be watering, while the spots along the way are not to be missed either. It starts off right in Ghent with the St. Bavo's Cathedral. Here, the tombs of the bishops display a kind of Italian grandeur that hardly matches the down-to-earth character of the Low Countries. The restored 'The adoration of the Mystic Lamb' by the painters Hubert and Jan van Eyck definitely is another good reason to take a look inside.

Short or longer

The four-day trip can only be described in one word: enjoyment. From Ghent you will visit medieval Bruges and then, via the Bruges Ommeland, Roeselare. During the 7-day trip you'll also go on some extra tours from Ghent and Bruges, including to the green Scheldeland and Damme, city of Tijl Uilenspiegel. And at the end of the day, ofcourse, another delicious dinner awaits.

Ghent breathes history. When visiting the city, you should definitely try parking your bicycle against one of the medieval facades to explore a little by foot. Enter an alley, through a gate, around a corner and zigzag across a square to arrive at a tiny shop with antiques or a grim castle where guides passionately explain how poor slobs used to be broken to pieces. And of course you will get a chance to admire the enormous St. Bavo's Cathedral.

This trip also takes you to another medieval highlight: Bruges. Park your bike somewhere against a facade and walk along the canals. The beautiful medieval buildings are reflected in the motionless water. Here you'll find some swans silently float by. A little further on, some sparrows are bickering in an enormous chestnut tree. The main course of the day is the impressive Belfry, and for dessert Bruges offers you the idyllic Beguinage. And we haven't even gotten started on the actual dinner for tonight..
