Enjoying life in France. Where better than in Provence? The sun shines brightly on the lavender fields, in the quiet villages, the sound of iron pétanque balls clicking echoes through the air, and you park your bike in the shade of a charming café. “Une crème, madame, monsieur?” “Eh… I’ll have a Chateauneuf du Pape.” That will make cycling even smoother. Six Cycling Routes

You’ll also cycle to the wine village of Sainte Cécile, to Tavel, famous for its rosé, Mornas, Bagnols-sur-Cèze, and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. In the afternoon, it’s time to return to the charming town of Orange. With this 5- or 8-day base holiday, you can choose from six cycling routes.

Privileged Villages

There may seem to be many, but only sixteen villages are allowed to associate their name with the Côtes du Rhône Villages. These are the privileged villages. They are all located around the charming town of Orange. While they produce excellent white and rosé wines, most of the wines are red. The primary grape is Grenache, which gives the wine a good amount of alcohol and aroma. This is something you must definitely taste during your routes from the South of France’s Orange.

Beaux Villages

Plenty of sunflowers to be found, as well as beautiful villages. On your way to the stunning village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, you’re sure to pass a few. Park your bike where the scent of coffee drifts from a café, and find peace in the shade of an ancient olive tree. Avignon, with its famous ‘Sur le Pont…’ and the majestic Palais des Papes, is another must-see. Want more culture? Visit the Musée d’Art Moderne in Bagnols-sur-Cèze, which boasts a beautiful collection of paintings by masters like Renoir, Bonnard, Matisse, and Van Dongen.
