The first part of the second stage runs flat through the so-called park of Vilamoura where you get an idea of the thoughtful, planned layout in the coastal area. Beyond Boliqueime, the hills begin. After the pretty village of Paderne, you ride into a scenic valley with a water mill and castle ruins. After a steep climb, you then cycle fairly flat via Tunes, Algoz and Pêra (authentic, Portuguese villages) to Armação on the coast where you can see something of the influence of mass tourism. The eastern part of this seaside town is full of flats, while on the western side the locals' multicoloured fishing boats line the beach. You'll pass the beautiful cape-based chapel Nossa Senhora da Rocha and just before the pottery village of Porches, you'll reach your hotel with pool.
