Spanish passion: pura pasión!

There’s no shortage of passion or natural wonders on this fiery circular ride. But its true temperament shines through the nature parks, deep gorges, grape production, marble industry, wine regions, olive groves, castles, mountain villages, medieval towns—and countless stunning viewpoints. Every day: pura pasión.

Experience all things Spanish

It all begins on the first cycling day with a loop from the UNESCO town of Elche. The Parque Natural Salinas reveals vast salt lakes (Salinas) home to large flocks of flamingos. Then you head inland to La Romana and Jumilla, a region known for some of the finest marble in the world—and top-quality wines. The route continues to Villena and Bocairent. Everything that defines Spain is here: sheep, goats, grapes, olives—all set against a magnificent backdrop of imposing mountains. Park your bike against a wall in medieval Bocairent and wander the narrow streets leading to the Plaza de Toros. You’ll also discover numerous 18th-century fountains along the way. After Castalla, the passion concludes with a transfer to Alicante.

JumillaJumilla

A breeze to enjoy

After Valencia, Alicante is the largest city on the Costa Blanca—and definitely one worth extending your stay for. Visit the Castillo de Santa Bárbara for phenomenal views over the city, stroll along the Explanada de España with its many palm trees, market stalls, and refreshing sea breeze, wander through the authentic working-class neighborhood of Barrio Santa Cruz, cycle past the expansive beach (and take a break on a cozy terrace), admire the yachts in the Puerto Deportivo, and finally, visit the MACA, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Alicante. Truly, enjoying your extended stay here is a breeze.

Santa Barbara CastleSanta Barbara Castle - Alicante

Proud of the rock

Four hundred thousand (yes, really!) years ago, people already lived here. While we hadn’t even started wearing bear skins, the locals were already dwelling in the caves of Bocairent in the Sierra Mariola Natural Park, long before our era. And it’s still a wonderful place to be. The medieval town center, perched atop the rocks, reveals beautiful narrow streets. Walking up or down, you’ll pass many old fountains, such as the Font de l’Escaleta. The arena at the Plaza de Toros is entirely carved from rock—a huge feat that surely made its 1843 opening celebration a grand event. Also worth a visit: the Monasterio Rupestre, an underground monastery carved from rock, dating from the 17th and 19th centuries. Bocairent is truly a (pr)oud town.
