The stage from Jumilla to Villena goes via Yecla. You cycle along a quiet road through varied landscapes—distant mountains, vineyards, olive groves, almond trees, sheep, and goats—everything you imagine when thinking of Spain.
The second half of this stage, from Yecla to Villena, follows a former railway line. In the distance, you’ll spot the beautifully restored Villena Castle. Wine culture is impossible to miss here as well. Nestled in a stunning valley surrounded by lush green slopes and impressive mountains lies the estate of Francisco Gomez, home to thousand-year-old olive trees and aged Monastrell vines. Of the 3,500 hectares, over 300 are dedicated to vineyards and 700 to olive cultivation.
The main grape variety, Monastrell, covers 60 hectares with vines older than 30 years.
