Greek Delight on Green Corfu

During this 8-day cycling adventure, you’ll truly discover every side of lush Corfu. Starting in Vatos, you pedal toward the ultimate relaxing village of Kouramades, considered one of the island’s most beautiful. Further along, Corfu proves its green reputation once more—home to around four million olive trees. Just outside Panorama, you ride into an enchanting forest filled with twisted, towering trees planted close together to reach for the sky. Then, the coastline comes back into view. You arrive at Gardeno Beach, where the local taverna serves delicious moussaka. And of course, you’ll enjoy a foamy Greek beer right on the beach.

Stunning Panoramas

Next, the east coast awaits—with flat seaside boulevards and the occasional challenging climb. Then it’s a breezy descent to the Achilleion, once the palace of Empress Sisi of Austria. And on to Corfu’s most photographed monastery: the white Vlachérna. In the island’s capital, Kerkyra, it’s time to leave the bike behind and wander through its charming alleyways. The road on the northeastern side of Corfu winds high above the water, offering spectacular views. One last stop on the way: picking up fresh fruit from a local farmer. Because that, too, is part of the true Greek experience.

Monastery with a Unique Experience

The white church of Vlachérna served as a monastery for three centuries. Today, it's a chapel (with a souvenir shop) where Greeks love to say "I do." And it’s no surprise—this is without a doubt one of the most beautifully located buildings on Corfu. Park your bike and walk across the causeway that now connects the islet to the mainland. From here, you get a stunning view of the little church. Pure romance! Until, right overhead, another plane roars in to land at the nearby airport. A unique experience in its own right.

A Touch of France with a Greek Twist

The capital, Kerkyra, showcases a blend of Venetian, French, and British architectural styles—generously topped with a spicy Greek twist. Surrounded by water, with two forts, a delicious maze of alleys in the old fishing quarter (where laundry hangs Italian-style from balconies), wrought-iron railings, and weather-beaten plasterwork, the city proudly holds a place on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Just restored enough to be both charming and authentic. Be sure to take a break at one of the cafés beneath the arcades of the Listón—a distinctly French touch, inspired by Paris’s Rue de Rivoli.
