Cycling through an agricultural landscape of meadows and fields, you reach Cavour, nestled at the foot of the Rocca di Cavour, visible for miles around. Here you’ll find, among other sights, a 16th-century market hall and the 11th-century Abbey of Santa Maria. The nearby 12th-century Romanesque Cistercian abbey complex, Abbazia di Staffarda, is also well worth a visit. Then you cross the (dried-up) Po River and cycle back through orchards to Saluzzo, where you can enjoy a short tour of the medieval upper town.
