For these days, you have a choice of four cycling routes: two on Kos itself and two to special neighboring islands.
The first route takes you through the heart of the island, visiting Andimáchia (ancient mill, traditional house) and the Pláka forest, where semi-wild peacocks roam. You can extend the route with a round trip to the large fortress of Andimáchia, a visit to Lacháda Beach, or a loop through Kéfalos.
The other route on Kos is a bit more challenging. From Andimáchia, you cycle to Kardámena on the south coast. Then follows a beautiful road over a kind of mountain pass to Pylí, one of the oldest villages on Kos, hardly influenced by tourism.
In 45 minutes, you take the ferry to Kalymnos, a rugged island known for sponge fishing. Only the valley of Vathý is green here, an oasis in a fjord-like inlet. You can take a ride to Vathý with a loop through this oasis or make a much tougher round over the island including a mountain pass.
Finally, you can take an excursion to the picturesque island of Nyros, south of Kos, an active volcanic island! The ride on Nísyros can be extended at will to the fairytale villages of Nikiá, Emborió, or Mandráki.
