Routes

The cycling holiday starts in historic Hoorn and follows the coastline of today's IJsselmeer and Markermeer. On the Afsluitdijk, you will hopefully have a tailwind. In Friesland, you do a number of Elfsteden towns and after Gaasterland, the cycle route follows the shores of 'the new land', the polders that are only about 60 years old. You pass Urk, spend the night in Lelystad and cycle past the new nature of the Oostvaardersplassen. Via Muiden, Amsterdam, Volendam and the cheese town of Edam, you return to Hoorn.

  • Until 2026, the cycle path across the Afsluitdijk is (partially) closed due to roadworks. A free bicycle bus runs with space for max 15 bicycles and 25 people. This bus runs once an hour across the dyke.
